Urgent: cancer survivors need better care

In 10 seconds? Beating cancer is a tremendous feat, but most cancer survivors still need medical care after the cancer is gone. Healthcare systems need to do more to better serve cancer survivors.

Why do cancer survivors need further care? Cancer survivors know that beating cancer is only part of the battle. Why? Because they may be at risk for their cancer re-emerging (which is called cancer recurrence) and even have a 10% higher risk of developing a different cancer than those who have never had a diagnosis. This means it is crucial that cancer survivors are connected with the appropriate screening services, even after the original cancer goes away.
