These ‘targets’ are driving the search for high-precision cancer treatments
In 10 seconds? Researchers are looking for ways to target proteins present in multiple types of tumors to create improved cancer therapies.
What's the story? Certain proteins, like NY-ESO-1, are found almost exclusively in various tumors and are largely absent from healthy tissues. These types of proteins are attractive 'targets' for future cancer drugs–much like how heat signatures of fighter planes are used as targets for missiles.
