Human eggs can stay fertile for decades - a hope for mature mothers?

In 10 seconds? Human eggs can remain dormant in ovaries for up to 50 years without losing their reproductive potential, researchers have found.

What’s the story? The study revealed that this long survival of eggs occurs because oocytes (i.e. eggs) can skip the process through which cells generate energy and the byproduct of this, reactive oxygen species (ROS) that contribute to cellular aging.
