How effective are COVID-19 vaccines in people with cancer?

In 10 seconds? Several studies say that COVID-19 vaccines protect people with cancer. Other researchers, however, warn that this is not the case with multiple myeloma (MM) where a significant proportion of patients fail to develop antibodies.

What did the study reveal? Researchers analysed the production of the antibody, anti-S IgG against the spike protein of the SARS-CoV2 virus in fully vaccinated individuals with multiple myeloma. Interestingly, they’ve found a high variability in the results obtained even after a full course of vaccination. Following a similar observation, another study reported zero antibody response in 15.8% of double-jabbed individuals.
