In 10 seconds? A new study using AI to analyze “DNA fragmentomes” in the blood can accurately detect lung cancer in 94% of patients. The discovery is important because only a small percentage of at-risk US individuals undergo screening that could help prevent deaths.
DNA fragmentomes? What are those? Although cancer cells are known for their ability to grow endlessly, not every cancer cell makes the cut to join the tumor and many die along the way. During this process, DNA is released from the cells and enters the blood, where it becomes known as “circulating tumor DNA” or “ctDNA”.
